Garmin’s new Forerunner 945 is just one of the best Fitness Smartwatches available in the market in this price segment. The watch packs tons and tons of different features in a really small size. The design of the Garmin Forerunner 945 is also really good and the watch looks quite durable. The watch can also store music and has inbuilt Spotify and Deezer apps. There is also a map functionality that could help the user get a better sense of their track. Most of these features are the limelight of 945’s software but the hardware on this watch is also not far behind. The Garmin Forerunner 945 packs a heart rate sensor, a barometric altimeter, a pulse oximeter, and even a thermometer. The watch is available in the market for a big price tag of about $599. Here’s our full review for Garmin new Forerunner 945.
Design and Build Quality
The size of the watch is actually a little bigger than what you would expect from a typical smartwatch. Most of the smartwatches come with a physical size of about 42 mm to 46 mm while the Forerunner 945, on the other hand, has a 47 mm physical size but considering its big size the watch is more or less thin. The watch measures around 13.7 mm in thickness, it’s definitely not the best number but the thickness is forgivable considering the large size. The watch is probably not the right fit for you if you have small hands or wrists. The front is all screen surrounded by a big bezel as always. The screen is a 1.2 inches non-touch Panel with a resolution of about 240 x 240 pixels. You can buy get a great discount on electronic devices online using Paytm Mall Coupons.
The screen isn’t the best and thinking of the big price tag this watch has the screen could’ve been at least a little better. The screen should withstand scratches since it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX, the brightness on the screen is also nice, nice enough to make it clearly visible even when in contact with broad daylight. The material used for making this watch is a fiber-reinforced polymer and again considering the number of features this watch packs its size and the weight just look small. Talking about weight the watch weighs around 50 grams it is twice the weight of a galaxy watch active. Since this device doesn’t support a touch screen, all of the navigation and selection around the watch is done through the physical buttons present on its sides. On the right side of the watch are a start/pause/stop button and a back button while on the left side of the watch are the light, up and down buttons. The back of the watch has the heart rate sensor and the charging port.
Summing everything up, the watch has a rock-solid design. At first glance, the watch seems to be pretty durable and it probably is as well but the size of the watch could be a problem for some people.
Performance and Features
There are tons and tons of features available in the watch for the user. The list of exercises the watch supports is huge and if that’s not enough you can add and make your own custom exercise as well. The watch is full of features and sensors. The watch has a heart rate sensor that can be used to measure your heart rate 24/7 other than that the watch has GPS that could be used to look at your real-time location in the available maps function of this watch. Other sensors in the watch include a barometric altimeter, a pulse oximeter, accelerometer, a thermometer and many more. The watch can store up to 1000 songs, has wi-fi and NFC that could be used for making seamless transactions using an app called the Garmin pay and again if that is not enough the watch comes with a built-in Spotify application for music. We can’t list all the features of this watch since there are hundreds of them but the features mentioned above are probably going to be the watch’s main selling point. The watch is also 5 ATM water-resistant so swimming is definitely not an issue here. The battery on the watch is also just huge. According to the claims made by Garmin, the watch can run up to 2 weeks in smartwatch mode, up to 36 hours in GPS mode without music and up to 10 hours in GPS mode with music.
Garmin’s Forerunner 945 is definitely the monster of fitness smartwatches. The quantity and quality of the features it packs is just a lot for a small smartwatch. The battery life of the smartwatch is great, the design is also very appealing, the watch also seems to be very durable and the software experience and inbuilt features are out of the league. The only problem some people could have is with its size and mainly with its price, the price is not that high for a watch with features like this but if you’re looking for a cheaper watch there are many other reliable fitness smartwatches available in the market.
